You know…sometimes life gets in the way. We have had a very busy, hectic, crazy couple of weeks. It has honestly been a whirlwind of activity and I have barely had a moment alone in the kitchen.
Life has been in the way, but it has been a good thing. Our life is good and school is out for the summer. We are ready to make memories and lots of great food!
Thank you to everyone who has continued to visit my little home on the web while I have been MIA the past couple of weeks. As a treat to you, I am going to share my all-time favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. If your idea of a great chocolate chip cookie is one that is chewy with a slightly crispy outer edge, than you will love this chocolate chip cookie recipe. If you love your chocolate chip cookies to be thick and cakey, then go elsewhere for a great chocolate chip cookie recipe because this one is nothing of the sort.
After many, many, many years of trying various recipes and never quite finding the perfect one, my friend DeLynn (yes…my perfect pie crust teacher) and her friend Lisa experimented and came up with this recipe. It makes a lot of cookies so either be prepared to be very hungry or be open to sharing! The dough and the cookies freeze well. I always have this dough on hand in frozen little balls ready to be popped into the oven at a moment’s notice.
Now, without further ado, here is the best End the Search Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups butter or margarine
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar firmly packed
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Mix butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs in large bowl.
- Mix in the flour, baking soda and salt.
- Fold in the Chocolate Chips.
- Drop dough by rounded measuring tablespoons, about 2-inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 9-12 minutes or until light brown. They may look slightly doughy still when you take them out. That's ok.
- Cool slightly, keeping on the cookie sheet for at least 3 minutes to firm up.
- Remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

These look yummy! I’m not a fan of TOO flat cookies, but these look like they have a little tenderness to them…especially if you leave them underdone a bit!

Welcome back! I’m a very big believer in a bag of frozen unbaked cookies! I love being able to bake four and no more for the night!!
Those are cute! I made some ice cream sandwiches this morning for my kids, and also made the cookies, will post soon! Take care.
Except for the run up to Christmas, May always seems to be the busiest month for many. Glad school is out and you can have a wonderful summer with your kids. If these yummy cookies are part of the fun, your kids are really lucky.
Yum, chocolate chip cookies!!! I need to get baking! 🙂
Glad to see you’re back! 🙂 Those cookies look delicious, I love chewy cookies.
Fortunately (or not) I love all chocolate chip cookies. My favorite is the one I have in my hand when the question is asked.
These look so cute. I have to make chocolate chunk cookies as I can’t get chips – I make my own by smashing up bars – also great for stress relief!
Glad you are back, Kristen! The cookies look yummy! =)
These cookies look and sound great, I especially appreciated your tip about storing the dough in the freezer!

You’re allowed to be MIA after posting that divine strawberry shortcake. BTW, I’m not a judge, but your cake photo gets my vote for this month’s DMBLGIT. It’s sensational!
This is a busy time of year- I think everyone will understand! I love the pictures of your kids, they are so cute! I can’t believe my little girl is going into the 2nd grade. This year was another fast year for me. Enjoy your son’s kindergarten year! 🙂
Glad to see you posting again! May is always busy for me. Not because of kids, but because of the darned spring clean-up in the yard. Plus, the weather’s finally nice and I’m enjoying long walks after work. Just not reading or cooking nearly as much as I usually do during the colder months. I haven’t been blogging nearly as much either, but hope to get back into it in the coming days.
The cookies look awesome. My hubby and I both love thin, chewy chocolate chip cookies versus the cakey ones. I’ll definitely be giving this a try.
Keeping your father-in-law in my thoughts…
Kris–the kids and I made these today, to celebrate the last day of school, they are awesome!!! The dough is fantastic, and so is the cookie. Love you–Kathy
I love those little swirly choc chips – we don’t have cool fun stuff for baking like that here so I’ll have to stock up on our next trip over!
I think I’ll be baking these tonight! They look yumalicious! 🙂
