A happiness quote and my thoughts on practicing the art of selfish happiness.
This was the first time with NaBloPoMo where it became late at night and I still had nothing to post. But then I remembered why I was doing this challenge…so I could feel ok just writing, without even a purpose sometimes.
Yesterday…on a morning where my kids were being extra challenging, I anonymously bought the coffee of the person in the drive through behind me at Starbucks. And it made me happy to do so. Sometimes I am completely selfish in my giving to others… I want to do something special for someone else to yes, make them happy, but also because I need a little bolster of happiness. That simple act of doing something for someone else gave me enough of a little happiness bolster to get me out of being in a crabby mood.
As you go through the rest of your weekend, and then onto your week, think about the little things you can do for others and do them. Then I challenge you to see how your mood and own personal happiness is affected by your actions. Sometimes when we get out of our own problems.. our own head… and do something small for someone else, we get just as much out of it.
Be selfish for once…in this case it is complete ok! Practice the art of selfish happiness and make someone else’s day while making your own.

I have been the giver and the receiver of coffee in the drive-thru at Starbucks and I have got to say that getting a free coffee is sweet but giving a free coffee is super duper sweet. I was on a happy high all day after I did that.
This is a great reminder.
