My husband and I love to entertain. We love cooking, having friends over, enjoying one another’s company and engaging in adult conversations. Every time we watch The Food Network or Fine Living we comment on how we wish we could entertain more. What’s stopping us?? Money, for one. Three kids and a busy life doesn’t help either.
I’ve decided to make a project out of this dream of ours. In the year 2007, we are going to host at least one dinner party of some sort each month. Some may be ellaborate, some may be simple, some may be kid friendly, some may be adults only.
My plan is to make a theme for each month, and from that theme I’ll plan the party. We’ll share with you the various tips, plans, accessories, etc. that we come across that have made our journey to this goal possible!
If you are in the area and want to attend a Dine and Dish event, feel free to give me a call 🙂

Your so close, you’ll have to pick one to come to. I could have a locals party as one of my themes. Wouldn’t that be fun?

Wish I could come but alas… I cannot. Maybe someday! This is a great idea though. I’m SO glad you are doing it. 🙂

Do you remember our gourmet dinner club? We would pick a different country each month and the hostess would furnish the meat and research recipes and give them to the other members to make for side dishes and salads and desserts. I think one of my favorites was Gillian Rampley with an English dinner–she was from England and we had roast beef and yorkshire pudding. Easter, we had leg of lamb with as she put it, a "proper mint sauce." It was lots of fun and we enjoyed it greatly for over a year while we lived on 30th Drive.

Mom,
I do remember those gourmet dinner parties. I remember being excited when you’d have them at other houses because we’d get to have a babysitter, eat TV dinners and watch Wonder Woman on TV.
I remember you all having one at our house and you set up a little table for the kids in the play room or my bedroom… one of those. I vividly remember getting to drink grape juice out of plastic champagne flutes. I can remember that like it was yesterday. I remember someone serving us like it was a restaurant. It was so much fun!
I love the idea of the hostess sending recipes to the guests to make… it would force us to stretch out of our cooking comfort zone some.
