Do you ever hear of a business idea and think, “That is just genius… why didn’t I think of that?” I do that all the time. In fact, I often have these brilliant ideas and then do nothing with them only to have someone come along later and make millions off of the idea.
I have a new business idea that popped into my head this weekend, and I am going to run with it, finally. I wrote out a plan of sorts today and just need to figure out the next steps. However, figuring out what those nexts steps are is the hardest part. But, this time, I am going through with it. I know I can do this and I have confidence in the idea. I just need to feel the fear of failing and do it anyway. If any of you have any know how in this and know of any resources to use to get started, I would welcome the advice!
Speaking of “Why didn’t I think of that?”, how about this recipe for a ham and cheese rolled omelet? I think it is absolutely genius and it was so easy to make. Mix it up, pop it in the oven, and after a few finishing touches you have a yummy and impressive breakfast on the table. Genius, I tell you… absolutely genius!

Go for it and enjoy the entire process, even the parts that might scare you after thinking about them too long.
And I’m totally using the omelette roll recipe. We’re egg people, so it will be a new way to eat them.

Egg, ham and cheese — can’t go wrong with that. Of course you should find a way to put that omelet roll on a stick for one of those “breakfast on the go” things…those sell big 😉

I don’t know what the next step is, but perhaps a visit with a banker (I would visit Bill if I were in Altamont) They might know what procedures to follow to protect your idea, etc. The Small Business Administration also helps people make a business plan, etc. I am sure the government part of your telephone book would have their address and telephone number.

I’ve had tons of business ideas, and I finally decided to go with one. It’s been hard, since I’m starting it up with so very little resources, but hopefully it will all pay off in the end!! It’s scary and intimidating sometimes, but it’s exciting as well! Good luck with your venture!

Wow… enjoy your burst of inspiration! Don’t you love those!
As you move ahead, remember most ideas fail because people don’t follow through with them. If your idea and plan is sound, and your finances are in order, plunge ahead and don’t give up.
Having no idea what your business idea/plan is… I can only offer you some general advice. Consider whether or not you need to get a patent (if you are creating a new product or substantially changing an old one), a trademark (if you might need one), or seeing if you might need to register your business name at all. Protect your idea legally before sharing it with the masses or potential investors.
Once your have your business plan, financing (check into small business loans and special programs for women and minorities if necessary), and have any necessary trademarks/patents in hand (these can get expensive so plan ahead for them), I also suggest finding someone with expertise in the particular area your idea /plan is in to mentor you. Finding someone who has successfully worked through a project/business of similar proportion would be a wealth of ideas, providing they are willing to share them.
After the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed, draw from your commitment to this idea. After all your hard work, hopefully you’ll reach the successes you dream of.
Last words of advice – remember to hire a good attorney to protect your business interests. A good attorney and accountant are worth their weight in gold.

In our house, that’s the ‘Million Dollar Idea’ issue. Mike is famous for it, and even more famous for coming across his idea somewhere down the road. We would be living on Easy St. if he did any follow-through. Good luck to you.

You can do it!!!
Trying is better than not trying at all (and then always wondering, “what if?”)!!!
Good luck!!!

I do think that if you do a search for ‘women entrepreneurs’ you will find some good resources and tools/tips.
