Happy Friday, friends!
I’ve been really struggling with getting going in the mornings lately, that was until the kids and I decided to implement morning dance parties. It’s crazy how much an upbeat song and a little moving in the morning gets you in the right frame of mind to tackle your day!
Music can be so powerful. Earlier this week a dear friend of mine flew across the US to be with her mom, Carol, who had suffered a severe aneurysm. They were told early on that Carol had a 10-20% chance of survival…things were not looking good. Her mom’s response to outside stimuli has been very limited, although there have been a few glimpses of hope along the way. One such glimmer of hope was when my friend started playing one of her mom’s favorite songs at her bedside. Her prior unresponsive mom opened her eyes immediately and looked at the device the music was coming from for 3 songs before she got tired and went back to sleep.
Friends, music has the power to heal and the power to turn a day around. If you are struggling to have a good day or to be happy, try putting on a playlist of some of your “happy songs”.
A few of my “happy” songs are… Footloose, What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger, Sugar, Sweet Caroline, Jessie’s Girl and the much overplayed but still makes me happy – Uptown Funk.
What would be some songs on your “Happy Playlist?” I’d love to know! Write me back and let me know what songs bring a smile to your face!
Now, let’s move on to things that made me happy this week!
This recipe is probably too easy to share on my blog, but I did it for my kids. Also, starting my day with this breakfast? Best thing I’ve done all week!
This may be my favorite thing on the internet this week. I wish I could climb right in.
I really, really dream of owning something like this. Isn’t it dreamy?
I’m on Day 4 of this 365 Day course… I can’t wait to see the strides I make over the next year! (PS – It’s a set your own price course! Join me!)
I’m implementing this monthly, ASAP. I truly believe this is one great key to happiness!
I’ve been talking about this a lot lately in my morning Coffee Talk’s on Snapchat (I’m dineanddish there – follow me!). It’s one of the reasons I’m limiting social media time drastically.
I’m in LOVE with the photography on this blog lately!
If you follow me on Snapchat, you know I’m in a sort of rehab with my friend Aggie. I had to be reminded of this great wisdom many times this week!
Because I didn’t get to it last week… My book review post this week will include this sweet romance, this really great autobiography, book set in Kansas and this moving memoir.
Also, I saw this Oscar nominated movie in the theatre and it’s one of my favorite, ever…and Amazon has it for download! I can’t wait to watch it again!
Well, that’s it for this week, friends! I absolutely love hearing from you all each week! Hit reply and let me know how you are doing and what’s making you happy!
Have a great weekend!
