The Happiness Report #31 is also my first post for NaBloPoMo, where I’ll be sharing content each day this month.
Hi friends and happy first day of November (and first day of NaBloPoMo)! It is all of a sudden freezing cold here in Kansas. Yesterday was chillier than we expected… maybe even one of the coldest Halloweens we’ve had. That didn’t stop the kids from heading out and getting way too much candy.
What do you all do with all the candy after Halloween? My kids dentist and his vacation house would probably like it if I let them have a free for all, but I typically let them eat all they want the night of Halloween (which never ends up being as much as I would think) then the day after they each get 20 pieces to keep. I hold onto some of it for currency (like clean your room, you get candy, etc) but other than that, I try to get as much of it out of the house as possible. I LOVE candy… I always have. It is one thing I can’t have around the house, or I am the one eating it all day! The good thing is, my kids will do just about anything for candy, so if I play my cards right my house should be very clean by the end of this week without me having to lift a finger!
I thought today would be a perfect day for a Happiness Report. It’s the start of a new month (hello, November!) and I’m feeling all kinds of peppy this morning. So here we go…
This past weekend I had the honor of speaking at and attending a new food bloggers conference in Kansas City called ChoppedCon. I spoke with Christina and Bev about the fine art of Instagram. I also did the closing keynote which was basically about happiness and balance. I made people cry, which I’ve heard is a good goal to have when you are speaking 🙂 I really hope Marly decides to do this conference again because it was one of the best blogging conferences I’ve been to in awhile! It was great to see so many blogging friends together in my home city! (Thanks for the picture, Order in the Kitchen!)
My 2015 Erin Condren Planner arrived yesterday and I’m so excited! This is my 3rd year using and loving Erin Condren products. I’ve written about my love for her calendar’s about a million times (look at all the love, here). New calendars make me kind of wish January 1st will get here quicker, but we all know time doesn’t need to fly any faster than it already is. Anyway, if you are looking for your 2015 calendars, now is the time to order from Erin Condren’s site so you can get your stuff on time!
I just have to brag about my husband for a second. As you may or may not know, I bought myself an entry level espresso machine for my birthday. I’ve been working on perfecting my at home latte making skills and plan on learning latte art. Anyway, this week I found out that there is such a thing as latte art school… who knew? The above text conversation was between my husband and I, and he didn’t hesitate a second to support my dreams, no matter how crazy they are. I’m pretty lucky!
OK just a few more happy things…
I love this alternative to the Shelf Elf… introducing The Kindness Elf.
This video and porcupine makes me insanely happy… I can’t get enough of Teddy!
I love the photography and the mulled wine recipe in this blog post.
Finally, I’ve decided to join the NaBloPoMo movement in November and will be sharing posts everyday this month! They won’t all be food posts, but hopefully content that will stretch me and inspire you! If you are a blogger and want to join in NaBloPoMo, you can find out more here.
Now it’s your turn…

Everything here makes me grin, Kristen! My new planner for next year arrived this week as well and I can hardly wait to get started with it. I love the fresh clean slate each January! It makes it a little easier to wave goodbye to the holidays, doesn’t it?

Do you use an Erin Condren planner too, Mary, or a different brand?

Things that are making me happy?
1) These happiness reports
2) That it snowed today!
3) a fire in the woodstove
4) My kids’ continued health
5) that my young hens are getting close to laying age. I can’t even wait for them to start. It’s been a long couple of months of eeking out the egg supply
6) My hubby is home from a week long business trip. CUDDLE TIME! 😀

Meeting you in real life! Chopped Conference was so inspiring and I came away with a great outlook on the future. And we just started building on our new house. Love your happiness reports. They really do make me stop and be thankful for all of the things I have to be happy about.

I love your happiness report and I’m so glad we’re in this NaBloPoMo(ish) together. BTW, if you figure out the whole home-based coffee business model, I would love your input. Staying home and making coffee all day for friends and neighbors sounds pretty grand!

Some things that are making me happy:
1. electricity coming back on last night (losing power on a scary-windy, frigid Halloween night during the watching of a ghost-hunting show is an experience to say the least! Eep!). The soft, warm glow of a lamp’s light can definitely equate to happiness.
2. our burning bush’s red leaves
3. acorns
4. autumn!
5. Seeing these Happiness Reports make me happy, Kristen! 🙂 Love your cute pics and pretty notebooks, and kudos to you on your ChoppedCon presentation!
