I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I didn’t mean to be gone from blogging all week, but sort of unconsciously decided to unplug some and it felt really good. In fact, I still have to open my inbox from ignoring it all week. I am not looking forward to doing that tomorrow. I hate to see the mountain of monstrosity waiting for me once I do.
Speaking of unplugging, over the break I thought a lot about what my 2013 word of the year will be. For 2012 I chose Connect, which has been great, but I think my focus for 2013 will be “Simplify”. I’m still tossing it around in my thoughts, but right now that’s what I think I want and need to focus on in 2013. We’ll see if I change my mind between now and the first of the year! Have you given some thought to your focus for 2013?
When it comes to cooking, simple equals one pot meals that provide both great nutrition and comfort, all in one. When my friends at Bush’s Beans asked me to create a family favorite recipe using their beans, I knew just what I wanted to put together… a simple Bean and Steak chili recipe that would both tempt our tastebuds and be as simple as pouring, stirring and simmering. Chef Jeffrey Saad gave me some tips to complete the recipe, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out.
As we head into the rest of the crazy holiday season, I’m relying on simple one pot recipes to make my life a little easier. If you are too, this recipe is one you should definitley try! Enjoy!

Oh, the flavors look so good! I cannot wait to try this. Thanks for the great recipe. I’ve been trying to get more ideas for the holidays, especially with ingredients that are already in my kitchen. I highly recommend Holly Clegg’s trim&TERRIFIC KITCHEN 101: Secrets to Cooking Confidence for this, which also includes recipes for Diabetics: http://www.hollyclegg.com.

YAY for no more turkey lol. I LOVE beans. Sometimes I not-so-secretly will just open up a can of chickpeas and snack on them.

This girl is all about the bean. Love the use of two different types in this chili. And.. I did not realize that Bush Beans has seasoned varieties now. Love using preseasoned beans for quick lunches. Will have to look a little harder next time I hit the market.
