As my 7 year old was getting ready this morning, checking things off her freshly printed morning checklist, she exclaimed “Wow, mom! We sure are organized!”

Our organized mode, my friends, lasts about 6.3 seconds into the school year. We always start off gung ho the first week of school… packing our backpacks the night before, setting our clothes out at night, getting up early and in time for a healthy, homemade breakfast, etc. Once we get back into our routine, we seem to get further and further away from being organized as the year goes on. We get comfortable, the newness of the school year wears off, and we all start to slack. 6.3 seconds might even be generous. …

Thanksgiving…what does it mean to you? I admit, I try to have an attitude of gratitude each day of my life, but honestly..sometimes when you are knee deep in a 4 year old having a fit about not wanting to brush her teeth, an 8 year old giving you drama that he gets treated unfairly because he’s the only boy in the house, a 6 year old who enjoys being the martyr so much that she tattles on everyone and a 1 year old who thinks that screaming is the best form of communication, my ever present attitude of thankfulness kind of goes out the window….

Carol’s cookbook, Table Talk, continues to be extremely popular in my house. My love for this book has only increased with each recipe I try! I have decided that it would only be fair to give one of you the chance to win a copy of this fantastic cookbook. For dinner tonight, we had Tried and True Meatballs with Zingy Red Sauce. My husband’s comments, “These were the best meatballs with sauce and pasta you have ever made!”. Want the recipe? Get the book 😉

Gathering together at least once a day for a family meal is very important. Because of that, I am also going to include in this giveaway Food for Talk by my friend Julienne Smith. Food for Talk is a box of conversation starters for families and friends to use at meal time to get the conversation flowing.

Entering to win is simple. First, head over to Carol’s website and check out Table Talk. After you have done that, come back and leave one comment on this post. Please fill out the form with your name, email address and blog address. If you don’t have a blog, that is fine. Just make sure you let me know how I can get a hold of you.

All entries must be received by Midnight CST on Wednesday, July 23rd.

Why is it that all that I can think about when writing this post is the You Tube video of Faith Hill recently telling off a concert groupie for groping her husband? I know, I have the mind of a 5th grader, don’t I?

We went to an Italian restaurant a couple of years ago and I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. To me, meatballs means lots and lots of meatballs and I was looking forward to my heaping amount on top of my pasta. When our food arrived, I looked at my plate and my expectations for the pasta were fulfilled… it was a heaping pile of pasta. Much to my dismay, my expectations for the meatball situation fell very short. On my plate was one, single, solitary meatball. It was a large meatball, but there was only one.

This was all wrong. Meatballs belong in groups and piles. They are not loners. They need others by their side to be complete….
