The Happiness Report #27

The Happiness Report Number 27 dineanddish.netFriends, do you see those beautiful SPRING like flowers up there? I have a couple growing in my yard right now, but that particular vase of daffodils is a gift from my friend Jenny who got them at Trader Joe’s. I absolutely love the flowers (and the price for flowers) at Trader Joe’s. It’s only right that I open up this Happiness Report with the touch of spring these beautiful flowers have given my home!

This blog photography project is my current new obsession. They are currently on 9am, but I think the photos from 7am are my favorite. All the photos, and the project alone, makes me happy!

Speaking of photography, I feel a little like a peeping Tom when I read my friend Lindsey’s  blog… her Life in Session posts make me want to scratch Dine & Dish and start all over. I love her style and her easy way of documenting her week through honest words and photos. It’s the one site I make sure to catch up on every week.

This Man-Pleasing Chicken recipe? Oh dear me… so good.

Scott Foley actually tweeted (<–see it there) Rachel, Kristen and I… I may still be on cloud nine because of it. (OK it was only one word, and was over a week ago, but still…it doesn’t take much to excite me).

I love this post and this post from blogger friends, stuffed full of awesome blogging tips (hint…ones a joke…never take yourself too seriously!)

I gave up my personal Facebook for Lent… this Chrome Extension has helped me stick to it and I’ll definitely use it to help manage my time when Easter is here.

As much as I miss my friends on Facebook (I feel soooo disconnected!) I have fallen back in love with Twitter. I think the key to Twitter happiness is making lists of people who tweet things you enjoy. I’m not interested in going to Twitter for a bunch of links and promo stuff… I want short and sweet little conversations and sharing. Twitter Lists have helped me to find those people and to engage with them. Are you on Twitter? Let’s connect!

Speaking of Twitter, if you watch Scandal, you MUST follow the cast on Twitter. They are the most fun to tweet with, especially on #ScandalThursday. Here’s a Twitter List to make it easy! Thursday night #Scandal tweeting makes me happy.

I’m totally going to take this coffee drinking challenge… join me? I think we’ll all be calmer because of it.

I’m currently reading this book and really, really love it. If you are looking for some great books to read, remember you can find my favorites here.

Because our house is for sale, we’ve managed to keep it really clean lately. Takes me back to my FlyLady days. I kind of love it.

first communionElla’s First Communion Dress makes me happy… and so does

hedgehog…getting to snuggle hedgehogs!

I think that’s it for now, but make sure you don’t leave without sharing!

Happy

The photography project – love love love!
The tweet from Scott Foley – omg!
The coffee challenge – I am IN!
The hedgehog – too cute! I used to have one as a pet when I was little. Love them!
Love your Happiness Report, as always, Kristen!
What makes me happy? The sunshine, watching my little boy playing, reading Charlotte’s Web with my daughters. We have a little book club. :)
Have a fabulous weekend, my friend!

Hasn’t this sunshine been glorious? I guess you are used to it where you are, but still… what a mood lifter!
I love that you and your daughters have a book club! That makes me happy!
You make me happy – thanks for all your support :)

I loved that book also. Right now I’m finished Shadowland and reading book 2. They are YA but creepy good.

I’ll do the coffee challenge but with Tea. I have a whole 2 boxes of Teas I get to review and giveaway! I Heart Tea!!!!

Facebook reminds me of High School with all its drama. I only keep it active because my girls dragonvale is linked to it and they won’t loose their islands and dragons with a facebook link. Otherwise I’d totally delete.

Will try that chicken recipe thanks for sharing.

Love the communion dress, we just got our pew assignment today, so excited!!!!! Only 3 weeks away.

I know the cool thing about our pew assignment is we are sitting in the exact pew when my oldest took her first communion with our youngest. So for my youngest communion she will be sitting in her sisters communion dress where her sister sat.

Its so hard I love tea so much. They sent my some really tasty ones. I love the Vanilla Biscotti tea. It taste just like you dunked a bicotti in your tea. Dessert and Tea all in one. :)

I still can’t believe that Scott Foley tweeted you!!! I happened to mention Dorie Greenspan on twitter the other day (because I made a recipe inspired by her) and she responded, and I pretty much freaked out.

It was so great meeting you today Kristen! Best of luck with the house! Also, I am a huge fan of that two-handed coffee drinking idea. I could use a little more of that in my life.

OK Dorie tweeting you is something to freak out about for sure! She is the nicest person!!
It was great meeting you too! We’ll have to do it again sometime, for sure! Have safe travels back home!

Love your happiness report and will be checking out all the links too. Just looking at that little hedgehog makes me happy. I’m a sucker for little animals… :) and I do love twitter more than Facebook. It just seems more connected and more focused…

Is that a milk bottle the daffodils are in? Great idea!

And since you… don’t hate handsome men, here’s something that’s made me happy this week which might also make you happy. So, I don’t know if you’re familiar with the site Go Fug Yourself, but it’s basically trying to be the Get-a-Grip Friend for famous people who are bad at dressing themselves. It’s hilarious. ANYWAY, they recently had a post about how Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Tom Cruise were making weird hair choices lately, and one of the commenters basically said, they’re just getting older, it’s a shame but it happens to us all. And THAT turned the whole comment thread into listing hot-looking older dudes. Enjoy here.

I sooooo love that you mentioned our infamous two. It wasn’t just one word, it was one word eith TWO syllables. I am grateful for our bond that formed on Twitter thanks to #ScanadlThursday.

I typed more in my comment then the above typo filled sentences. I don’t know what happened? I have also been enjoying Twitter over Facebook and will have to make some Twitter list for myself. The hedgehog and communion dress are so cute. I remember being so embarrassed in my communion dress because I didn’t want people to think I was getting married. I’m happy today because it is my birthday! I am looking forward to spending the day with my family.

    • says

I am happy we have the Scandal bond too! It’s been a lot of fun :)
That cracks me up about your communion dress! Aren’t kids funny?
I hope you had a wonderful birthday!!

I just spent a long time clicking through all those links! LOVED the coffee link — so simple yet so profound and wise.

Can’t wait to see photos of Ella in her dress!

That photography project is incredible. I love how our day progresses from quiet to liveliness. You always find the best things online! Right now being able to go for long walks with the boys outside is making me happy!! Never having a baby in November again – lol. xoxo

    • says

I know! That’s what I love the most about it too…and how we are all are kind of connected that way throughout the day.

Kelly was a November baby and I totally know what you mean! I highly recommend May for baby #3 :)

I love your happiness report! Ella’s first communion dress is beautiful – I still remember my dress and it was plain jane but I did have fancy white shoes with lace socks. Cool right?

My happiness is being closer to family and getting to spend time with them and see them interact with Olivia. I love being a stay at home mom who gets to blog about food.

    • says

I had a pair of fancy white lace socks that I still remember to this day… maybe Easter socks?

I’m so happy for you and jealous at the same time. I’d love to live close to family. Soak it up!!

So many fun things in this post. I followed Kerry Washington and almost installed the Stay Focused extension but couldn’t pull the trigger. I almost bought some tulips at Costco today, just looking at their cherry spring colors made me happy.

    • says

Hehe – the good thing about the Stay Focused extension is you can set it for whatever amount of time you want. I think when Easter arrives I’m going to be setting it for 30 minutes and will try to get my facebook time done in that each day. Crazy that I think that is more than reasonable now. Before hand I’d hate to think how much time a day I was actually spending on Facebook!
      Thanks for visiting, Barbara!
