I am currently on a little 8 day detox / cleanse trying to rid myself of some of the bad food habits I can’t seem to kick myself from. I’m on day 4 (so half way through) and it’s going really well! The good thing about this detox is, even though I have had to eliminate sugar and carbs for a few days, I am getting to enjoy a moderate amount of protein. As long as I can have my favorite beans, I’m good to go.
I’ll let you know how things went at the end of 8 days. I can tell you this much… being a food blogger and being surrounded by all the temptation on the web is the toughest part. However, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and all that, right?
How would you all like a little Friday afternoon giveaway? I’ve shared several Bush’s Beans recipes with you over the last few years. Let’s talk about our absolute favorite Bush’s Beans recipes, shall we?
- Quick and Easy Dirty Rice (pictured above) is a really great and easy side dish
- We’ve had this Sweet Mesquite Taco Soup at least 4 times since I posted it a few weeks ago. I’ve heard from several of you who have tried it and loved it too!
- One pot Sausage and Bush’s Beans Ragout is soooo good. Like so good. Try it!
- I made this Mushroom White Bean Tostada recipe for the Mushroom Channel Blog, but it is honestly one of my favorite recipes, ever. So good!

I like them all by themselves!
I like cooking with beans many ways…black bean cakes, hoppin John, in chili, or good old fashioned baked beans!

With lots of salsa on top!
My family loves them with barbecued hamburgers for a quick weeknight meal.
I can’t wait to hear more about your detoxing! I have so many friends doing that right now! Giving up dairy (due to an intolerance) has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I was even dreaming about cheese at night for the first month
Of course, when someone tells you that you can’t have something…you just crave it more
I like making my sweet and sour hamburger casserole using Bush’s Beans
