Morning Chaos {Recipe: Breakfast Cookies}

Photo of Banana Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies from www.dineanddish.net #recipe

Mornings around our house are usually mass chaos. No matter what I do to try to be organized the night before, mornings don’t seem to change.

In fact, we have a little celebration in the car on the way to school on those rare days where I didn’t have to turn into “raging maniac mom” to get everyone in gear. I’ll say, those little celebrations don’t happen too often. That’s not something I’m necessarily proud of.

So, would you judge me if I told you that sometimes to ease my guilt for yelling, I let my kids have cookies for breakfast? OK, there has been a time or two where those cookies were Girl Scout Cookies, but for the most part, cookies for breakfast around our house consist of the oatmeal banana breakfast variety. I love these cookies because they are easy to make and they are fairly nutritious. When raging maniac mom spends her morning, ahem, yelling using her outside voice, inside, saying yes to cookies for breakfast seems to erase all that.

Say yes to cookies for breakfast and bring joy back to your mornings…for a moment, anyway.

  16. Love this. I have done granola breakfast cookies but I love the idea of banana in them. I too get crazy in the morning…the bus comes at seven. You have to be crazy to gey everyone up and out the door by then!

  17. I have all those ingredients in my house right now. Maybe ill make them tomorrow morning or this weekend. They look really good and seem like they are pretty healthy.

  18. “Raging maniac mom” – I think I’m going to have to borrow that title. I can’t tell you how good it feels to know that I’m not the only one who has lots of mornings like that. Like you, I’m not proud of it, but it helps to know I’m not alone. =) I often make a batch of muffins or scones that we can eat over several days, but I’m going to have to add breakfast cookies into the rotation.

  19. My son’s going to be so happy when he gets to eat cookies for breakfast ;).

  20. My mom was totally that maniac in the mornings also and, if it makes you feel any better, I turned out okay!

    And I didn’t even get any breakfast cookies! I should probably make up for lost time with a batch :)
