Be Happy – A Happiness Project Giveaway – CLOSED

This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winner, Debbie Mauer. Thanks to all who entered!

I have a ton of things I should be putting up today but I feel pulled instead to share a spontaneous giveaway with you.

As I look around and see the people around me, living our daily lives and just doing our things, I can’t help but feel that so many of us are just going through the motions every day. We aren’t experiencing all that we can experience. We have our lists and things to do, and one by one we’re checking them off but not really finding joy in too many places.

Oh there are some of you who have this “live in the moment” and happiness thing down. I envy you… I really do. It’s a great place to be. There are others who are happy, but maybe don’t “feel” happy. If someone asked us if we were happy, we’d probably say “Yeah, sure… I have no reason not to be happy”. But are we joyful? Are we living with a true sense of happiness? Probably not.

You’ve heard me talk about the book The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. This book changed my life… it is one of the few books I’ve ready that I felt the great need to implement into my life right away. I felt like I could have written it because Gretchen seemed to be in my head, sharing some of my most intimate thoughts. Of course, I didn’t write it (darn it!) but I could relate so much, and I’ve heard the same thing from others who have read it.

The Happiness Project inspired the Happiness Reports that I share on Dine & Dish. Reading it forced me to take a deeper look at my life and to take responsibility for my happiness and when I started doing that, I noticed the people around me became happier. It was an amazing thing to watch.

Gretchen Rubin has a newly published book called Happier At Home. I haven’t read it yet, but I can’t wait. I’m ready for a happiness refresher! I thought today would be a good one to share a Happiness Giveaway with you. Up for giveaway is one (1) copy of The Happiness Project and one (1) copy of Happier at Home both by Gretchen Rubin. You can enter the giveaway as many times as you’d like. In the comments section of this post simply share a separate comment for each thing that is currently bringing you happiness. That’s it. Each comment you leave counts as one entry. Comments must be received by midnight, CST on Monday, September 17th.

Of course, if you want to go ahead and get a move on with the happiness, you can buy both The Happiness Project and Happier at Home on Amazon!

This happiness giveaway is sponsored by me. Gretchen has no idea who I am. All opinions are completely my own! Happy day!

My happiness today comes from being your Mom. You are an inspiration to me and to our whole family. Thank you! If that book is on your Kindle, I don’t need to win it, do I?

I started reading the Happiness Project and then put it down and went onto something else. I really need to pick it back up again. I have loved this series!

I am happy because I still have 3 weeks left of my summer vacation to enjoy. The kids are in school and if I win this great prize I may even have time to finish the books!

I loved The Happiness Project. And since I checked it out from the library to read it initially, I’ve often thought of purchasing it. I think it would be worth the re-read. And I can’t wait to read her new book.
What’s making me happy today? The fact that I got up and ran this morning…even though I didn’t want to.

My family’s general health. As I was taking my kids to school today, a gentleman was crossing the street and he needed two arm brace/walking canes. Even then, his legs were 2-3 feet apart width wise with each step. Breaks my heart every time I see someone who struggles with the most basic things, and makes me feel profoundly grateful that my children and I don’t have those difficulties.

I started the Happiness Project on my kindle with the 2 week library loan and didn’t finish it before the loan period ended. I need to finish it.
I have so much to be thankful for but don’t have time to list them all (and it would fill up your comments!).
I am thankful for the opportunity to be a SAHM to my 3 wonderful kids. I have a wonderful husband. I have a great house in a great neighborhood. My family is all healthy. I have the ability to train for a half marathon. I have more than enough food to eat every day. I have a God who loves me no matter what! The list goes on and on…

My other comment left me feeling heavy, so I wanted to leave a different one, too.

Recently, what makes me truly happy and filled with joy is running around the track chasing my last baby, who is age 8, while he rides his bike. (“Race me, Mom.”) He overcame his years-long fear and now loves riding. :)

I love that you came back and left another comment – I love both of your happiness, but totally get what you are saying.
And I never thought about riding on the track… what a great place to learn and to ride! Congrats to your baby!

What makes me happy? Reading your blog, Kristen! It is always a joy. Oh, and hearing my kids giggle. That always makes me happy.

Happiness is living with breast cancer for 15 years and being able to watch your children graduate from high school! I smile when I read all the back to school blogs!
