How to Make Baking Powder Substitute

Your sweet baby boy (ok, he’s 10, but still… humor me) wakes up and comes to you in his half awake stupor, snuggles up to you on the couch and says, “Mama, can you make waffles for breakfast today?”

Naturally, you oblige. His request is simple and if it makes him happy, it makes you happy.

You head into the kitchen with your favorite waffle recipe in hand, ready to serve up a scrumptious breakfast. You whistle along as you start dumping in the ingredients… a little flour here, some salt there, crack a couple of eggs, baking powder… baking powder!!

A quick and easy Baking Powder Substitute recipe for when you need it in a pinch! From About.com
Ingredients
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1½ teaspoons cream of tartar
Instructions
  1. Whisk together the baking soda and cream of tartar. Use immediately.
  2. Creates 1 Tablespoon baking powder.

    thank you so much! I like to use aluminum-free baking powder but my local grocery store doesn’t carry it and I have to order it online, so this comes in handy while waiting for the mail to come!
