Tate’s Bake Shop Cookie and Cookbook Giveaway

I have a deep admiration for those of you who are so passionate about something that you took the leap of faith and started your own business. That’s why I love shopping at small, local shoppes, talented retailers like Crosby & Taylor and individuals who sell online at places like Etsy.com. It takes a lot of talent as well as guts to go out on your own… I want to support that as much as I can!

This is why when the people at Tate’s Bake Shop contacted me about doing a giveaway on Dine & Dish for a collection of cookies and their cookbook by the same name, I was all over it. The owner of Tate’s Bake Shop, Kathleen King, started selling cookies at her family farm stand at the age of 11. That little farm stand has now turned into a full fledged bakery and is known for being one of the very best in The Hamptons. How about that for following your passion? Rachel Ray and Ina Garten, along with many others, have sung the praises of Tate’s Bake Shop so it seems as if Kathleen’s dedication has paid off indeed.

Lucky for you, Dine & Dish readers are going to get the chance to win a collection of cookies from Tate’s Bake Shop and their Tate’s Bake Shop cookbook. The prize package includes packages of each oatmeal raisin, white chocolate macadamia nut, and chocolate chip cookies. To enter the giveaway:

  • Leave a comment on this post letting me know what you are doing right now in your life to live your dream? If you aren’t living your dream, what’s holding you back?
  • For an additional entry, head over to the Tate’s Bake Shop Facebook Page and become a fan. Once you’ve done that, return to this post and leave a comment letting me know that you are a Tate’s Bake Shop fan.

The giveaway will end at midnight on Wednesday, December 15th. At that time, a winner will be chosen at random and notified.

Tate’s Bake Shop is also offering Dine & Dish readers a 10% discount on any purchase from now through December 31st. To redeem the discount, use the code “cookie” at checkout.

I am currently writing a business plan for a dessert shop and have negotiated a great lease on the space to open the first one! I have been a caterer for 25 years and am looking forward to opening a small chain of shops that I can manage now that I am getting getting older than I used to be!!!

I actually have Kathleen Tate’s first cookbook which I think was only a small print and has been out of print for at least 15 years.

I lived my dream for years when I was a travel agent and spent all of my days making people happy – sending them off on their trip of a lifetime. Plus I got to travel often and that was incredible. Now I’m retired, but still feel like I’m living my dream because now I can spend more time with a wonderful husband and I smile all day long.

Had a health scare last year and decided to get healthy in 2010. Gave up all that bad food and sugar and started working out and running. At the end of 2010 I have lost over 70lbs and am my dream weight and look and feel better than I have my whole life. I have always baked with my boys and still do because we love making something we can share with the peeps we love. I am so proud that I don’t eat it and just because I can’t have sweet doesn’t mean they have to give it up too.

I left the security of my job of 15 years, and all its benefits, to start my own bakery and deli. It was a huge leap of faith in this economy, and it remains to be seen whether we’ll make it, but I wouldn’t change my mind for anything!

Not living my dream….lack of finances and having my husband be disabled and out of work is what is holding me back at this point. I’d love to stay home with my girls :) But we are healthy and together, so that’s dreamy enough for me :)

I just finished my PhD in Molecular and Celluar Biology, now I am working as a postdoctoral fellow in a field I really enjoy working at a job that helps develop detection methods that really help people where environmental concerns are a problem.

To live my dream, I have recently self published a cookbook designed to help busy families eat a healthy and delicious diet. It’s called, NO WHINE WITH DINNER: 150 Healthy, Kid-Tested Recipes from the Meal Makeover Moms and is my second cookbook. There is so much talk out there these days about childhood obesity and nutrition. My goal with the book (which I’m now marketing myself … YIKES) is to make good nutrition easy for everyone!
