I rely heavily on shrimp when I can’t think of anything to make for dinner. All my shrimp recipes are quick and easy and almost always healthy. Thanks for adding another to my repertoire!

And thanks for introducing us to your parents. I’ve read a couple of posts from your my mom’s blog and will return when I have more time. I wonder if I can convince my mom to do the same…

I would have loved to attend BlogHer Food. I’m still regretting not going. That said, I will definitely be there next year! If you really want to be spontaneous, come to Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico the week of January 23rd, 2010. Janice and I will be doing a few cooking classes out there … as well as pampering ourselves and working out a lot.
BTW, your shrimp recipe looks amazing (just wish my oldest son wasn’t allergic)…

my parents used to tell me of when they were first married they would saute shrimp in garlic butter and use toothpics to eat.. have a little sherry on the side…. simple times before we were all in school
I live in Texas and my parents used to throw us in the car and drive like crazy after picking us up from school to see the coast..
when Jeff and I were first married we continued this tradition.. it was my “mecca” when I would have a crazy week teaching.. lol! now.. things are full of babies.. not so many road trips.. perhaps when our kids are a little older

I loved that story about your parents — it gave me hope that it’s still possible to have spontaneity in life after you decide to have kids, which I sometimes worry about. I hope you will tell more stories like that Have fun at the BlogHer Food conference. Unfortunately I couldn’t go, but the next best thing would be hearing your impressions — and those of other attendees — on how it went and what you learned.

I think I’m about as spontaneous as you, but it is definitely something I’m working on. Deciding to go to BlogHer Food with only a week’s notice is certainly spontaneous in my book! I’d love to attend a conference like that, but, you know….I need to plan for it. The shrimp recipe sounds yummy! I’m starting to cook more shrimp around here, so I’ll have to try it soon!
