I love supper clubs! The first one I put together, I was in it for three years. The one I'm currently in is 1-year-old this month. This one is more "social" than "foodie," so it's a completely different vibe than my first one, but still fun nonetheless.

A dinner club sounds like such a fun. I'm a fajita and fried ice cream girl myself and never thought to try making the fried ice cream at home. I will try it for sure.

I love the idea of a Dinner Club, but I don't know that we know enough other "cooking couples" to make it work. My husband and I are the biggest foodies in our circles, I think.

The fried ice cream looks pretty amazing, too.

Your dinner sounds like fun. My friends and I get together every few months to do a dinner. We have done a Mastering the Art of French Cooking Night (everyone brought something from the book, a Spanish food night, and even an Iron Chef type cooking competition. It's a lot of fun.

I am usually nervous deep frying but this sounds so good...

This is really something I'd like to get going! I love the idea of inviting 2 couples and then asking them to each invite one. I think that sounds like a great way to get to know new people and have interesting and fun conversations during the meal - which is one of my favorite things about cooking/eating/being in the kitchen. The whole social aspect of food is amazing!

The dinner club is such a good idea, too. My in-laws have been doing this with their friends for years.

I love the idea of doing icebreaker type questions.

Getting together with foodies is always so much fun. The one thing I would add is to have someone record all the eating recommendations that people make during the course of the meal.

I really like fried ice cream and find it so sad that many TexMex restaurants don't serve it anymore. These sound really simple to make and I bet everyone loved them! I have been in a Supper Club for about 5 years now and we have so much fun. We have three couples and when it is our turn to host the host can invite another couple of choice. So we are at 8 tops all the time.

This sounds like fun! I don't belong to any dinner clubs so to speak, but I do host a small tasting club every few months. We focus on 1 item per get-together and try many different varieties of that item to experience the nuances and learn to best use/serve/enjoy it in real life, for instance: cheese, wines, apples, chocolate, etc.

Small group, low key, but also a lot of fun. The casual intimacy of our tasting club is what makes it such a success!

What a fun idea! I hope you don't mind me asking but what do you do with your kids on nights like these? I would love to have parties like this but refrain because of my kids. Of course I don't mind having friends over and having a more casual dinner (with kids) but anything formal is pretty much not an option. :) We don't have any family in town that can take them. I'm just always curious how other people do it.

Meeting every other month is key. If it is every month, people have conflicts. This way, they are looking forward to your event.

Sounds like a great time.

My parents used to do a supper club and I think they met every month. I think it'd be fun to do but don't know if I could with my schedule as a resident (starting in July!)...I'm going to be lucky to go out with friends every so often.

NOOOOOO.... I cannot believe you made fried ice cream! Now THAT sounds intimidating. But ohhhh soooo yummy. It wasn't melted inside?

I have always wanted a gourmet dinner group too. My sisters do them. But I am just not sure how my husband would do since he is soooo picky.
