I just tried beer bread at a tastefully simple party on sunday. it was soooo sweet and moist. yum yum! i even bought the bread mix and cant wait for it to show up at the house so i decided to look around for a copy-cat recipe.

now i'm pissed i spent $14.99 on 3 boxes of mix when this will cost all of about $2 haha. but at least i know what i'm making tonight!

and what i was told at the party, you can use soda too instead of beer so there are soooooo many different ways to make this it isnt funny. i think i'm going to do dr. pepper or cherry coke one day and use it in place of pound cake in a trifle. yummy.

This is so me. I'm looking at some moms that comes to school with the perfect hair, makeup, perfect tight jeans, high heels and I don't really talk to them. But you are so right that they could be so nice. But I judge them for their looks. I tend to stick with the moms that are normal and that they look like they actually do something in their house during the day instead of projecting the perfect image. Good post.

What a great recipe. I love that it's quick too, great for when dinner is decided at the last minute!

Oh yes. The misconceptions. I have to remember that..... I am NOT the best at initiating a friendship and then feel put out if someone doesn't say "hi".... but maybe it ME who should start the conversation!

Bread looks good. Sounds Irish with the beer...

Ok Kristen, I'm back for the recipe---your email convinced me.

Since the Chiefs are playing today, I'm making a big pot of chili and trying this beer bread in addition. I'm so in the mood!

I haven't decided if I'm going to tweak it a little or not (I was thinking cheese), but nonetheless, I'm anxious to taste the results. Thanks for sharing!

Nice post! I made beer bread once. I thought it was interesting and copied down the recipe and.....haven't made it since. I think it's time to try again. It sounds like a great recipe for fall.

I think I thought the same thing about beer bread, and still haven't had it, but it makes sense that it wouldn't have a strong beer taste b/c yeast breads have the same fermentation that beer does.

I love beer bread. Which reminds me I need to make it again.

About politics. I agree it is exciting. I agree Sarah Palin comes across as a very strong person that could give the republican party a good smack. But it is scary when you read about her strong conservative believes. I think we all have the right to believe in whatever we want to, unfortunately the far right doesn't think the same and that is a great threat for freedom. That's my two cents on the topic. factcheck.com is a good source.

Preconceptions are the worst, and they are often (but not always) wrong.

I think this beer bread sounds great. Do you think it would go well with chili?

I've only bread with beer once, but it was memorable. It would make the best sandwiches with grilled sausage and onion, don't you think?
